The Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can earn. It represents a Girl Scout Cadette’s accomplishments in Girl Scouting and her community as she grows and works to improve her life and the lives of others. The Girl Scout Silver Award is NOT a prerequisite to the Girl Scout Gold Award; a girl may complete her Girl Scout Silver Award without attempting to complete her Girl Scout Gold Award, and vice versa. Also, a Girl Scout does not need to complete the Girl Scout Bronze Award before working on her Girl Scout Silver Award.
GSUSA released new guidelines for the Girl Scout Gold Award, Silver Award, and Bronze Award in Summer 2009. The new guidelines will go into effect on October 1, 2011. Note: All GS Silver Award projects under the old guidelines MUST BE COMPLETED by September 30, 2011
