Religious Awards

Religious awards are programs created by national Girl Scout/Boy Scout religious organizations/committees, not by Girl Scouts of the USA. Girl Scouts recognizes these programs and encourages girl members to participate in them so they become more active in their religious groups. The programs offer awards in the form of pins that are authorized for wear on the official Girl Scout uniform.

Why Girl Scout Councils Promote Religious Awards Programs

There are several reasons why Girl Scout councils promote religious awards programs to the membership:

to encourage girls to grow stronger in their faith
to allow girls to fulfill their promise to "serve God," which they commit to whenever they make the Girl Scout Promise
to promote family values
as a service to Girl Scouts and their families
to make leaders aware of these programs
as a service to religious communities
in recognition that usage of these programs is increasing

A girl can earn a "My Promise, My Faith" pin every year. Requirements are listed in The Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting.
